Billie Eilish – October 2026

On 17/5/2025 I drew Billie Eilish to make into a shirt for my nibling (gender neutral term for niece or nephew). I think she wore it to Billie’s Brisbane concert.

I recently watched the Blu-ray of Billie’s movie ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’, a documentary on her stadium concert, co-directed by James Cameron. It was incredible. Billie is a master, she commands the stage. It’s all her, with no backup dancers, with an audience of thousands, and yet it feels private and personal. She’s singing for every one of us.

Her voice is ethereal. I love how she can write sensual, racy lyrics and yet she doesn’t dress provocatively or make it feel overtly sexualised or uncomfortable. It feels intimate and intriguing. I love how she’s an emPOWERed female, in the lead, without being so-called ‘pretty’ or conforming to traditional feminine standards. She’s simply herself and she radiates beauty. It’s liberating and revolutionary.

I’m an unashamed fangirl, and am becoming known in my community for my fangirl-dom (a friend calls me ‘fangirl famous!’) – but Billie’s fans are next level. Thousands of people in the documentary knew every lyric and talked about how Billie’s music and her sharing about her mental health has helped them through life struggles, and how they profoundly love her. Billie herself is a diehard fangirl of Justin Bieber, so she knows what it’s like to be passionately obsessed with your favourite singer, and she is intentional about being someone people can look up to.

What she’s been through over the years, from her depression in her teens, her global fame from such a young age, to coming out, to ‘happier than ever’- is powerFULL, and emPOWERing to witness.

Go Billie!
