December is upon us and it’s that time of the year. I send Seasoning’s Greetings! May the Spice Girls be with you!
When I discovered Mel C was going to be on The Voice Australia with my fave singer Kate Miller Heidke (who I have drawn and corresponded with many times!), I sent this artwork of the Spice Girls Seasoning’s Greetings and portrait of Mel C to Kate and her mum. Jenny texted back and said Kate will text the pics to Mel C! So not only my ultifave Aussie singer, but my favourite Spice Girl has seen my artwork! Astonishing!
I loved the Spice Girls and Sporty was my favourite. I particularly loved several of Mel C’s solo albums: ‘Northern Star’ was an all time fave CD in my late teens and 20s.
In 1996/97 when I was first using a wheelchair aged 16/17, Wannabe was all the rage. I remember a little girl grabbing her mum’s hand, pointing at me and yelling ‘Mummy, Mummy, why is there no Wheelchair Spice?!’ Her mum was mortified but I thought it was the best thing ever! Yes, child, why IS there no Wheelchair Spice?! In 2022 NDIS paid for a new wheelchair and I proudly named her ‘Wheelchair Spice!’
