My amazing cuz is part of a stand up comedy Spice Girls-style improv group ‘Girl Band’. I’ve wanted to see them live for ages, but can’t go out at night, so… they offered to come to me!
They were absolutely AWEsome. They asked for original song titles to improvise on the spot, so they sang ‘Dancing in the Daylight,’ ‘Epic Friendship,’ ‘If Flowers Can Use Sh*t to Grow Then So Will I!’ and ‘Expect F*cking Amazing!’ I’m told mine was a wholesome, PG version of their usually much dirtier show, haha! (though there were still panties thrown!)
I drew Ruby, Amber, Pearl, Sapphire and Jade from their promotional posters and they were so moved when I gave them prints, zines and meditation zines to take home!
Jade wore a shirt that said, ‘I’m so hot I’m jealous of myself!’ I love it, and I love them all. I’m jealous of myself right now too! Thank you, Girl Band, for such an incredible experience! You can check them out at The Big Fork Theatre, Meanjin (Brisbane).
