From ages 10-14, (1990-1994), I passionately loved playing the flute. It was my soul instrument – it would cheer me up when I was sad, and when I was happy, the controlled breathing would send me high. It was amazing. I wanted to bring flute into popular music like Tori Amos did with the piano. My parents gave me a professional flute to get me into the Con (Conservatorium of Music), but six months later I could no longer hold it up or even make the embouchure (mouth shape). Fibromyalgia pain limited my ability to play and I’ve never been able to play since. It’s been my biggest loss.
A few years ago, though, I discovered Stjepan Hauser of 2CELLOS, who made cello crossover from Classical to Pop. Their covers of ‘Thunderstruck,’ ‘Supermassive Black Hole,’ and ‘Halo’ are my favourites, and I could listen to their music all day! HAUSER has since done much solo work and videos on YouTube of playing cello in exotic locations, posing romantically and bringing cello into popular music.
I’ve wanted to draw him for quite a while and on 20/8/2026 I loved capturing his classic smirking pose with the cello in my ByShi Original Rainbow Bubbles of Collective Effervescence style. Thank you for your music, HAUSER!
